Tanzania Adventure: Kilimanjaro, The Serengeti, and Zanzibar

Oct 27, 2026 - Nov 9, 2026

Join Garden and Nature Tours with C. Colston Burrell on an African safari, gardens, and beaches adventure through Tanzania, Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti and the beaches of Zanzibar.

The name Tanzania conjures up images of wildebeest stampeding across vast savannah, rain forests teeming with monkeys and birdlife, and great plains brimming with legions of game. All of these natural wonders and more are on offer in this exceptionally diverse African nation. Our visit to Tanzania includes a relaxing seaside vacation on the picturesque island paradise of Zanzibar, a safari adventure in some of Africa’s most impressive game reserves, and an excursion around Mount Kilimanjaro National Park.

Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks.

Tarangire National Park
, situated within Tanzania’s spectacular Manyara Region, is an awe-inspiring national park comprised of granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and free-roaming wildlife. During the annual dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Situated in Tanzania’s central-northern region with Lake Manyara to its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west, the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats supporting an array of wildlife. This small park is home to surprising biodiversity and features a magnificent landscape of acacia woodlands, forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. The park supports over 400 species of birds!

The Seronera region in the central Serengeti, is set directly on the Great Migration route and offers excellent viewing of this incredible annual phenomenon, when countless wildebeest flood the area and move across the plains.

The Ngorongoro Region is known for its abundance of beautiful natural features. It encompasses the Ngorongoro Conservation Area,—a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, and the active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities such as viewing the epic Serengeti wildebeest migration, visiting a local Maasai village, and soaking up the remarkably diverse scenery.

Sandwiched between tropical greenery and the warm azure waters of the Indian Ocean, remote Matemwe beach is arguably the most enchanting of all the beaches in Zanzibar. Located on the last stretch of sand before the beaches give way to rugged cliffs on the uninhabited north-east coast of the island, Matemwe offers an unspoiled natural landscape, perfect for a relaxing tropical beach holiday.
