Day 1
Depart aboard our deluxe motorcoach for Gettysburg, PA, one of America’s treasures. Spend 2 nights at the BEST WESTERN GETTYSBURG located adjacent to the historic battlefields. WELCOME DINNER marks our arrival.
Day 2
Relive the history of our nation as we join our local guide for a RIDING TOUR OF THE BATTLEFIELD - learn about the largest battle ever fought on the continent, see where Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address. Visit the MUSEUM AND VISITORS CENTER at the Gettysburg National Military Park. Explore 12 galleries, inspiring films including “A New Birth of Freedom”, interactive hands-on exhibits and the 1884 Cyclorama, a mammoth painting-in-the-round. A guided tour of the SHRIVER HOUSE gives us a look at the “civilian experience” during the battle. Our period dressed guide tells the story of the Shriver family’s experience and tour all four floors of this restored original home including the Confederate sharpshooters nest in the attic. Farewell dinner tonight at the historic DOBBIN HOUSE TAVERN, an authentically restored historic home that was once a secret “underground railroad” hideout. We will have a SPECIAL VISIT from PRESIDENT ABE LINCOLN.
Day 3
Visit HOLLABAUGH BROS FRUIT FARM, family owned and operated for more than 65 years. Enjoy a apple dumpling demonstration including one to take home, a wagon ride through the orchard, sample apple cider and their famous apple cider donuts and your choice of 5 apples from the apple bins. Of course time for shopping in the farm market before heading for home.
