Itinerary
Day 1
Board our deluxe motorcoach as we head to the Green Mountain State, Vermont. Visit the BILLINGS FARM & MUSEUM and explore one of the finest small dairy farms in America and a museum of Vermont’s rural past. The operating dairy farm, restored 1890 Farm House, farm life exhibits displayed in 19th century barns, and animals showcase this model farm. Spend 2 nights at the historic MIDDLEBURY INN. In the heart of the Champlain Valley, The Middlebury Inn has been welcoming guests since 1827, overlooking the village greens of this Vermont shire town. This historic inn boasts of beautiful, elegantly restored rooms graced with formal Victorian accents - each room is unique. Welcome dinner tonight in the Inn marks our arrival.
Day 2
This morning step into the past at the SHELBURNE MUSEUM, a sprawling campus of nearly 40 buildings dedicated to art and Americana. This is an unparalleled and unique experience of American history, art, and design. This museum not only pays homage to New England architecture but also houses a world-renowned collection of art & whimsical Americana including the steamboat Ticonderoga. Afternoon visit to the UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT MORGAN HORSE FARM. This working horse farm has been a breeding and training facility for Morgan horses since 1878. Learn about the Vermont State Animal and America’s first breed of horse. Dinner at the WAYBURY INN, built in 1810 as a stagecoach stop, and known from the television series, “The Bob Newhart Show”. Hollywood came knocking at the Waybury Inn’s door and thought the Inn captured the essence of the Vermont experience and wanted to depict it as Bob Newhart’s own Stratford Inn.
Day 3
Following breakfast we’ll say goodbye to our friends at the Inn as we head towards home with a visit to HILDENE, the Lincoln family home, a 24 room Georgian Revival mansion where Abraham Lincoln’s descendants lived until 1975. En route home we’ll visit the VERMONT COUNTRY STORE, take a step back to a simpler time and place with time to shop in this authentic country store.
