Itinerary
Day 1
Travel to the heart of The Adirondack Mountains, Lake Placid, NY to enjoy scenic beauty and great sightseeing as we take an Olympic Journey. En route we’ll stop in LAKE GEORGE VILLAGE for lunch on own. 2 nights accommodations at the GRAND ADIRONDACK HOTEL, ideally located on Main Street in the iconic village of Lake Placid. MEET & GREET with a past or current local OLYMPIC ATHLETE during our welcome reception. WELCOME DINNER marks our arrival.
Day 2
Lake Placid has had the privilege of hosting two Olympic Winter Games, first in 1932 and again in 1980. The venues used for the Games are collectively known as the Lake Placid Legacy Sites, and include: Olympic Center, Olympic Jumping Complex, Mt Van Hoevenberg, and Whiteface Mountain. Our local guide will begin with a scenic drive up VETERAN’S MEMORIAL HIGHWAY TO WHITEFACE SUMMIT - dedicated to veterans of all wars by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1935. Next head to beautiful MT VAN HOEVENBERG where the bobsled track and cross-country ski trails are located. After our included LUNCH, visit the OLYMPIC SKI JUMPING COMPLEX. Hop on the Skyride Gondola to the base of the jump towers, then, take the glass elevator up to the platform of the 128 meter jump tower. Our last stop will be where the Miracle on Ice took place, the LAKE PLACID OLYMPIC CENTER. Journey through the historic halls, visit ice inks immersed in Olympic Legacy and explore the OLYMPIC MUSEUM. This evening is free to stroll Main Street for shopping and dinner on own.
Day 3
Visit to HIGH FALLS GORGE, the Adirondack’s most breathtaking walk. Witness majestic waterfalls cascading over rocks into a deep crevice carved a billion years ago while walking along accessible walkways. We’ll stop in downtown SARATOGA SPRINGS for lunch on own before heading home with memories of our trip to the Great Adirondack Mountains.
